MY TEACHING SCHEDULE
I teach private piano lessons Monday through Thursday at the South Bay School of Music Arts in Milpitas. I teach out of my home in Modesto on Fridays. My hours are from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM in Milpitas and 3:30 PM until 7:00 PM in Modesto. I do not teach on weekends. My current schedule is posted on this site and may be viewed at any time. If there is an open time that you’re interested in, let me know as soon as possible. Contact me by Email or phone. 408-945-8014.
Once you have been given a lesson time, that becomes your permanent time. When my schedule is full, it’s impossible to change to another time, so check the schedule often for openings.
FEES
Lessons at South Bay School of Music Arts are $106.00 per student. Lessons in Modesto are $80.00 per month. This fee entitles you to FOUR lessons per month; each lesson is ½ hour in length.
Tuition is due at the first lesson of each month. A late fee of $10.00 may be assessed if tuition is not paid on time. Credit is not given for missed lessons, and there are no refunds. I will prorate for students who will be missing TWO or more weeks in a month, but this needs to be worked out in advance.
You will also need to purchase books, a binder, and certain other materials. The initial cost for these items should not exceed $20.00. I will let you know which books to buy at the time they’re needed.
MAKE-UP LESSONS
This is a real stickly point with me. At no time are make-up lessons guaranteed. I try to work something out that is fair to both my student and myself. The bottom line is this: If you miss lessons on a regular basis, do not expect them to be made up. I simply do not have the time, and I will not prorate fees because of missed lessons. I want you there at your lesson, on time! If you miss an occasional lesson because of illness or a family emergency, I will do my best to find a time to get you in on another day.
PIANO RECITALS COUNT AS A LESSON IN THIS CASE. If you want a make-up lesson for your child, and they perform in a recital, consider us even. After all, is there a better learning experience than performing?
PRACTICING
Students are required to practice on a daily, regular basis. Not practicing is not an option. Students who are not prepared for their lessons risk being removed from my schedule. Homework must be completed, double checked, and turned in on time. Assigned pieces must be completed and played to my satisfaction. Always be ready for new material every week, and be sure to attend your lesson every week. Continuity is important in learning to play the piano. Missed lessons disrupt physical growth, development of muscle memory and reflexes.
RECITALS AND CONCERTS
All of my students are required to perform in at least one student concert each year. Concerts are held in the concert room at the South Bay School of Music Arts, and friends and family are encouraged to attend. These concerts provide valuable performing experience for the students. Be sure to view the PHOTO GALLERY on this site to see pictures of current and former students at the recitals.
